IMSA, IndyCar and NASCAR Race Car Drivers Scheduled to Attend

LEXINGTON, Ohio (April 18, 2018) – Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will host a Season Kickoff for race fans next Wednesday, April 25, 4-8 p.m. ET. This is a free event open to the public.

This Season Kickoff previews the 57th season of racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course which starts May 4-6 with a full weekend of sports car action sanctioned by International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). This season-opening weekend will be headlined by the Acura Sports Car Challenge.

Two drivers confirmed to meet and greet those in attendance are Jack Harvey, driver of the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda in the Verizon IndyCar Series and Ryan Truex, driver of the No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Both will race at Mid-Ohio later this summer; Harvey in the Honda Indy 200, July 27-29, and Truex during the Mid-Ohio Challenge, August 10-11. An IMSA driver will also attend. The remaining Mid-Ohio weekends include the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, June 22-24, and AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 6-8.

“Our race season starts much earlier than in past years, and this is a great way to welcome our fans out to the track and get them excited for another great season of racing,” said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “With the new facility improvements, pace car rides, Q and A with drivers, and much more, it’s a great way to help kick-off our season and give fans a little sneak peak before the season.”

Some of the features will include a moderated fan question and answer and autograph sessions with the drivers. The Mid-Ohio School will host a timed autocross and provide rides in its skid cars. Pace car rides around the 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The paddock concession stand will be open, and race tickets and school courses will be available for purchase during the event.

Mid-Ohio Season Race Passes and individual event tickets are on sale now. Children 12 and under always receive free general admission and paddock access at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
