Rookie Racers Program Launched for Children Aged Five to 12 Years

LEXINGTON, Ohio (April 20, 2018) – Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is proud to announce the launch of a new kids club dubbed "Mid-Ohio Rookie Racers," suited for children age five to 12 years old.  Club registration is now open for $25 each with a limited number of memberships made available.

Kids aged 12 and under always receive free general admission and paddock access when available to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course events. This new offering will give children their own expanded Mid-Ohio experience on all five major spectator race weekends and debuts with the season-opening Acura Sports Car Challenge, May 4-6, 2018.

Mid-Ohio Rookie Racers offers direct access to race cars and drivers, as well as the opportunity to learn how these racing machines work during each major race weekend. The benefits package will also include gifts and apparel from Cooper Tires, Summit Racing, NASCAR Acceleration Nation and the Verizon IndyCar Series.

"The enthusiasm from our partners in supporting this new Mid-Ohio Rookie Racers program has been phenomenal," said Craig Rust, president of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  "Our youngest fans are in for an exceptional experience which will create an impactful connection to the sport and our racing facility for a lifetime."

Children will have the opportunity to participate in fun, interactive activities uniquely centered around each race weekend. During the Acura Sports Car Challenge, children will have the opportunity to become ‘Grid Kids’ for both Saturday and Sunday’s races as well as other activities to be revealed. Parents and children will be kept informed on the upcoming race weekend’s activities through bi-weekly ‘Rookie Racers’ e-newsletters.
